Our IX Communities members once again enjoyed an engaging & insightful presentation from Andrew Flowers of Appcast, Inc, & former economist at Indeed & Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Andrew’s “recruitonomics” philosophy advises TA leaders to stay informed about economic variables they cannot control so that they can optimize variables they are able to control. Andrew started with an overview of the current U.S. economy that illustrated how the ‘great resignation’ has become the ‘great stay’ due to lower employment attrition. We discussed the steady decline in job postings over the past few years and corresponding challenges faced by job seekers. Andrew also shared important recruiting implications tied to changes in U.S. immigration, tariffs, and taxes stemming from the new administration’s actions. During our international discussion, we saw that the UK’s economy is currently performing similar to U.S., but with higher wage growth, and how Germany will be especially impacted by U.S. tariffs and an aging population without corresponding immigration to counter the workforce drop. An outstanding overview for everyone in TA!
