2026 May- TLIX Chicago Roundtable
Talent Acquisition is not navigating a single transformation, but several at once: globalization, centralization, enterprise alignment, and rapid AI adoption, all happening simultaneously. This isn't news, but according to the folks dealing with this 'at the coalface', there's a high risk of burnout of their teams, and helping them through that is definitely front of mind.
At last week's TLIX: Talent Leader Information Exchange Chicago Roundtable it became clear that leaders continue to wrestle with how to do all of the above without losing team members or slowing down the business. Plus, leaders are figuring out ways to help their recruiters to operate more as a strategic enterprise function by helping to shape workforce decisions and not just fill roles.
Naturally, AI was a constant thread throughout the conversation and teams are moving as quickly as they can to adopt new tools and drive efficiency, though they are often held back by legal and risk-management concerns from other parts of the organization. There is definitely a balance - ensuring compliance, mitigating fraud risk, and establishing standards, while also pushing recruiters to build fluency and confidence in an AI-first environment.
This led to another theme of the day - future-proofing the function by upskilling recruiters, as well as partnering more closely with L&D and talent management. We even touched on how people are thinking about helping hiring managers navigate this new hiring environment.
All in all, a great day of discourse and sharing across industries and regions, and if nothing else - everyone realized they had a new group of colleagues to add to their support network!
